Wine, Dine, and Chocolate with Kate Shaffer

Kate Shaffer, acclaimed chocolatier, author and co-owner of Ragged Coast Chocolate will be joining us.

 
 

Kate Shaffer

Kate was chosen by Dessert Professional as a Top Ten Chocolatier in North America (2011), and is the winner of three Good Food Awards (2015, 2016, 2021).  She is the author of Desserted: Recipes and Tales from an Island Chocolatier (Down East Books, 2011), which was a Bronze medalist in the 2012 Independent Publisher Book Awards, a Finalist in the 2011 Foreword Indies Awards, and Food & Wine’s Top 25 Cookbooks of the Year in 2011. Kate is also the author of Chocolate for Beginners: Techniques and Recipes for Making Chocolate Candy, Confections, Cakes and More (Rockridge Press, 2019); and The Maine Farm Table Cookbook (W. W. Norton, 2021).


 
 

Local Culinary Heroes

Our home town of Rockland has a well-deserved reputation as a foodie’s paradise, and on this trip, we’ll celebrate that diverse culinary culture. The first evening will feature a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Throughout the rest of our sail, we’ll treat you to an olive oil and vinegar tasting, a rendezvous with North Haven Oyster Company, and a tour of a local coffee roaster.

Meet Jane

Having worked in the wine industry for over 20 years, Taber co-owner Jane Barrett Barnes, is passionate about the history, culture, and enjoyment of wine and loves to share her knowledge and experience.

Jane has visited many vineyards throughout the world. Her career has included such top industry leaders as Four Seasons, Champagne Veuve Clicquot, the International Wine Center, Joe Bastianich, and Terlato Wines.
